1996 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving up a hill and heard a very loud noise like banging/grinding under the front of my car when I went to pull over the van stalled and won't start again. Can you tell me what might be wrong?

Hi:
Are there any leaks from the engine? Does the starter still crank the engine? When cranking, does anything seem out of the ordinary?

No leaks at all, just the banging noise when I went up the hill and then it stalled and won't start again tries to restart but just made a clicking noise.

Hi:
If it is making a clicking noise, then I will assume the starter isn't working. First we need to know if the starter is getting power. The large wire on the starter should have 12 volts. THe smaller wire should get 12 volts when the key is in the start position. Check that and let me know what you find.

Also, check to make sure no belts broke.
