I have a 96 caravan with a3.3liter engine. The van will start fine but when warm it will stall without warning or lose power then surge forward I had the parts store read the codes even though the check engine light isn't on and it only said multi cylinder misfire. I changed the plugs and wires and the crank sensor but still no change. I was wondering if the temp sensor might be at fault since it only does this when its warmed up. I'm going crazy tring to figure it out. I also replaced the fuel pump about a month ago thinking that was the problem.

If the engine has misfiring codes the PCM in the engine has driven the injectors but is not getting the correct response. Under the original warranty, the engine computer would need two main
inputs, or turn the engine off, both fuel and primary spark would go via a relay.
You have one scan that has said your coil pack went out, completely, cam and crank sensor dependant. They have a common power for all and seperate wiring for PCM drives I think either it is a engine control or wiring, just from that scan, and a inexpensive scan, is very vague, I'm afraid. A cam sensor loss may not be read for timing reasons internal to the PCM and this scan may have not picked it up. Oh a parts store read out. Sorry I did not see that. Why not have a professional mechanic or dealer scan it because your heading for trying this, that, then finding something else. I don't think all three coil packs are bad. The wiring and computer are next. Absolutely the coolant temp could tell the PCM it is cold, and be fouling plugs, but you would have smoke, fouled plugs, and a misfire condition. So see. Usual scan shows temp. And check engine lamp. Hope it is ok for you. Ok
