I am in the process of changing the oil pan gasket. I removed the oil pan with some difficulty. It apears that the water pump is in the way. Before I remove the water pump, can you tell me if that is what I need to do or not? What else do I need to remove? Do you recommend a one piece gasket?

2.2L or 2.5L I have only replaced the oil pan gaskrt in the car about 40 or 50 times but the water pump never got in my way. It is easier with both engine to transmission brackets removed and the right splash shield removed. But you probably already know that. Use a 4 piece or 1 piece mopar gasket. The older one had two side pieces and two end pieces but the newer one was all one piece and I think the older gasket supercedes to the newer one. I always used Mopar gaskets because of the warranty. If you can, use some spray glue to stick em on the pan before you put it up and don't be afraid to use black silicone on the four corners.
Thats a sloppy job. Be careful, patient, and good luck.
