So at the beginning of this summer my truck would turn over and idle but eventually die out, we suspected it was something to do with the timing to we changed the timing assembly an attempted to crank it again only this time it would crank but not start. We checked the usual faults however we were not getting any spark at all, no throttle body movement when gas pedal was pressed when cranking over, we changed the spark plugs, coils, throttle body is cleaned, we are now suspecting it to be a electrical problem. We swapped out the ECM with the fog light relay however that did not change anything at all and kept doing the same thing. We are at a standstill on what the problem is and are lost of where to go from here.

Hi,

If you have no spark to the plugs, it certainly won't start. When you worked on the timing, are you certain it was put back in time correctly?

Also, this vehicle has a crankshaft position sensor. The crankshaft position sensor (POS) is located on the cylinder block rear housing facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the signal plate at the end of the crankshaft. It detects the fluctuation of the engine revolution. If it isn't working or not connected, you won't have spark.

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you are experiencing:

Let me know. Also, let me know if you have access to a live data scan tool. If you do, check for an RPM signal when cranking the engine.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
