Crank no start?

It will crank but not start. I have replaced the fuel pump, throttle body, fuel injectors, spark plugs, direct fuel injector, and a new battery. But it still sounds like not getting enough fuel.

Hi,

I need you to try something. See if it starts if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, I need you to check for spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how to do this:

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/car-shuts-off-and-turns-on-immediately#last

Also, pay close attention to the tachometer to see if it moves a little when you are cranking the engine.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

It will start for a few seconds then shuts off. Tachometer moves a little. It is not throwing any codes.

Hi,

If it starts for a few seconds and then stalls, we need to check the fuel pressure. It sounds like you may have a weak pump.

Here is a link that explains how it is done. You will need a fuel gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

If you can get me the engine size, I can check the manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications for you.

Let me know.

Hi,

Interestingly, the pressure isn't indicated in my manuals. However, I have a different plan of action. See if it will start if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we will know if it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, I will need you to check if there is spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

Try this and let me know the results.

Take care,

Joe

It will start that way but that is the only way but then it shuts off after about 30 seconds or when fluid runs out.

Hi,

Since we know it isn't getting fuel, I attached diagnostics below for the fuel supply system. They require a scan tool to perform. I'm not sure if that is something you have.

Take a look through the diagnostics and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Which one are you having trouble with reading? Let me know and I'll enlarge it for you. Also, I was thinking about the issue. We may even have fuel pressure but no injector pulse. However, I feel that is less likely. Once we can confirm there is or isn't pressure, we can cross that road.

Let me know.
