Clutch broken and two garages have said it needs to be replaced. Works out cheaper to just get new car, but until then wondering how long it will last? I am planning a trip to somewhere an hour drive on the weekend, not sure if worth the risk. Will the car just stop working at a point soon?

Yes, when the clutch wears completely out the car will stop moving. There is no way to tell when or how many miles that will happen it.

Thank you, so would you personally not risk an one hundred mile round trip with that in mind?

A safe answer is if the clutch is failing I would not risk it.
