The vehicle listed above has vented air seats. The passenger seat works great at all speeds.

The driver's seat all power seat operates fine, but the vented seat stopped working. It has two seat blowers and neither works. The button that controls the seat works in the three heat positions and works in the three cool positions lights up fine as if it is working.

Looked at lower seat fan and it spins free. There are 6 wires going to these fans, so I don't have the pinouts of what to look for.

If I had wiring diagram I could troubleshoot further.

Hi,

Did you check if there is power available to the fans? If not, you may want to check that first.

As far as the wiring is concerned, I attached the schematics for the climate-controlled seats.

Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

joe

See pics below. Note: I had to cut the schematic in two to make it readable for you. I did overlap the two so you can follow from one to the next.

Hello Joe,

I looked over the schematics you sent and did a little testing. At the driver's cushion fan I measured 12v on pin 1 Green wire. Also made sure pin 4 had ground. Not sure what is supposed to be on the Light/Green pin 7?

I also need to locate the Air Conditioning Amplifier assembly. That says it is located lower left center of dash. Still looking.

Can you tell me what NT1 and GN4 mean?

Hi,

The A/C amplifier is mounted to the HVAC box under the dash near the throttle pedal. If you want to remove it, you need to remove the accelerator pedal assembly.

I attached the best pics I could find and attached them below. Let me know if they help you find it.

Take care,

Joe

Hello Joe,

Those are excellent picks. I think my AC amplifier is bad. When looking for a replacement I found so many model numbers of this unit. When I put in my VIN # JTMN1RFV5KD030682 It comes back with two model numbers 88650-0R390 and 88650-0R401 not sure the difference. I did find one site that said the 88650-0R390 part was for w/o heated drivers' wheel, and 88650-0R401 was for with heated drivers' wheel. I'm not sure why Toyota's part website does not say this if true. I have a heated steering wheel. Can you verify this?

Thank you,
Marty

Hi,

Yep, I sure can. If your vehicle was built in Canada and has a heated steering wheel, you need 886500R401. If the vehicle was built in Japan and has a heated steering wheel, you need part number 8865042830.

There are a total of 4 different ones. I attached a pic below listing them and which one is used based on the location it was manufactured and if it has the heated steering wheel.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for the info.

My VIN# starts with a "J" so I would assume it is built in Japan.

Not sure what to do because 88650-42830 looks discontinued. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I wouldn't think the part would be discontinued already. They are required to provide parts for the first ten years. After that, they discontinue.

If you look under the hood or the driver's door frame, there should be a few tags that indicate the point of production. Check that. I believe the first digits in this VIN are the order numbers for this vehicle. In other words, a Rav 4 may have been recognized when ordering it with "J49" I just made up the 49. LOL

Let me know.

Hello Joe,

I still had the window sticker. It said final assembled in Japan.

I may be at a loss. Glad the whole part is not bad, must have AC, LOL

Wonder if the USA fighting with Japan is the cause. I will keep looking for the part.

I will let you know if I find any source.

Hi,

That is hard to believe. Wow! Have you tried contacting a dealership? Maybe there is a new part number that isn't in my manual.

This vehicle is too new to have this concern. Take a look at the pic below. If they can't provide the part, there is a serious legal issue.

Let me know.

Joe

Hello Joe,

It is hard to believe. Thanks for the info on the law. May someday come in handy.

By any chance do you have wiring diagrams for both 886500R401, and 8865042830? Like to see what about the wiring is different.

Hi,

That is the interesting thing. The schematics remain unchanged. I don't know if the connectors are different or what.

Hello Joe,

I did contact my Toyota dealer and I asked him if I could use the Canadian AC amplifier and he said his system says no.

He said they have a newer part number for 8865042830, it is 8865042831
But they can't get it. He could order it for $800 and wait.

It is a major supply problem on parts for most auto companies. I Googled this and looks true:
For Automakers, the 2023 Outlook is Mixed
But many of the world's largest manufacturers are still facing significant difficulties related to the microprocessor shortage heading into 2023. Honda, General Motors, Ford, and Toyota all reported significant chip supply issues in the second half of 2022.

Looks like dealers have cars piling up wait for parts and no loners left to let customers use.

Hi,

Wow! Did they indicate how long it would take to get the part? Also, do you have any friends that have an automotive business? If so, they usually get parts a lot cheaper from parts stores and dealers. That price is crazy.

Let me know.

Joe,
The dealer said he had no ETA if he ordered the part. I told him I did not want to order the part but thanked him for the part number.

I agree that price is crazy. I have seen it discounted on a few dealers' websites. But still at $500+ is still too much. If the car had no A/C that would be different. I am still looking into getting one but at a better price.

Supply and demand pricing (pic).

Hi,

I am so tired of how things are anymore. This is the United States. We shouldn't be dealing with that type of issue. What has happened?

It's funny, I have an old Dodge Dakota that has over 100K, but I have taken care of it, and it is still like new. I would have traded it in a couple of years back, but I can't afford the prices of a new truck. Good Lord! I have two sons. The youngest finished college a year ago. I have worked two jobs (sometimes 3) to get both of them through school, so they had a fresh start. Do you think I'll get a refund? LOL

I better shut up. You may hate me for saying those things. I'm just frustrated that people like you, and I are being taken advantage of. It likely costs $20.00 to make the module you need. An MSRP of $829.00 is just crazy. Plus, you have a nearly new vehicle and can't even get the part. Ugh!

Take care of yourself, and I hope I didn't offend you.

Hello Joe,

I understand your frustrations. Sometimes it is good to get it out. The prices of everything have grown out of control. A new truck now a days cost more than a house did just a few years ago. Trying to get my wife's medications has become a problem. Always being told it is a supply issue. She has to go days without some medications. The world has gone crazy. (Just me venting too).

Been working on this:
