Hi,

Have you checked the reference voltage to the sensor? It should be right around 5v. Also, check the low reference for continuity to ground. Also, have you done anything with the cam sensor? It too could be a ground issue or voltage problem.

I have all the diagnostics which I'm adding below. I don't know if you will have the tooling to complete them. However, take a look through them and let me know.

If you look at the attachments below, I included the directions and pics related to both codes. The first six pics are for the P0342. The remaining pics are for the P0106.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe

Hi,

Thank you for all the references I'll be checking all the wires today to see where I'm probably losing some much needed volts or ground.
As far as being able to do the tests that require the scanner I won't be able to do any of that because I don't have access to a scanner.
Thank you again. I'll let you know what happens.

Hello Joe,

Well, I put in some serious hours under the hood this weekend, and came to a few different conclusions.
1st the new cam sensor that I swapped out when I changed the cup was bottoming out against the reluctor. So I put the old one back in and all was good for the moment.

Then I had to do the MAP sensor along with the pigtail to it and all was good for about 5 minutes into the teat drive. Then after awhile I noticed that I had wited the pigtail wrong and had 2 wires crossed so while fixing this I went over the whole harness with the wiggle test and found out that the wiring at the pigtail for the main feed wires to the passenger side coils was bad. Now that I redid the pigtail the truck is running great again.

Oh, and just so if anyone else is having this type of issues with their truck. Make sure you go over the whole harness from begin to end and that's where the most of the issues are coming from. Plus I had to do a anti theft system reset which is easy once I found it online.

All that has to be done is:

1) Start the vehicle and let it die on its own. Leave the key for 10 minutes turn it off for 5 seconds and try to start it again. Leave the key on for 10 minutes off for 5 and do it again. Do that sequence 3 times and the third time will be the charm.
Hey Joe thanks a lot bro. You are a good helper walking through the things you did. If it wasn't for you I would probably still be standing there scratching my head and cussing up a storm. My hats off to you. You'll never go thirsty because I'll forever owe you a beer.
Thanks again Joe and have a great day.
