2004 Citroen C3 Fan not coming on

Heater problem
2004 Citroen C3 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 65000 miles

This car has a digital Air Con system.
It is the 1.4HDi Exclusive.

Although the display shows the blower is on the motor does not start.

I have removed the digital rheostat and shorted across the the live points of the power transistor and the motor runs.

I have removed the power transistor to test it but I am unable to find any specs for it. I am not sure if it is blown or not.
Does anyone know of a replacement for this transistor?
Or any other idea's maybe its not blown but the fault lies elsewhere.

Hi Guy's
I finally sorted it by process of elimination
The Power Transistor is an N Channel Mosfet.
I replaced it with a IRFZ48NPBF RS part number 540-9957 cost about £1.50 this one is able to switch 62amps instantainious so should be well up to the job

I hope this will be of use to others.
John

A new Digital Speed controller/climate controller (its not a resistor) costs about £60 on fleebay.
The mosfet I finally fitted cost about £1.50

If you can un/solder its a no brainer.

@johnsiddle

Hi,
I have the exact same car (only from 2002) and the exact same problem :-)

Where is this "fan speed controller" located? I also want to replace the MOSFET...

Thanks,
Muris

well done john, i admire when someone manages to find a simple cheap fix for something that otherwise would have cost an arm and a leg, and probably not as good.
I too have problem with C3 heater which you resolved, can you please tell me where the transistor to be replaced is located.
I am in UK, but do not think C3 will be any different over here.

Thanks
