Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
2005 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My wife's van had been making a noise in turns. My first thought was CV joint had failed. This morning she calls and is broken down in the driveway. Can't engage transmission nor will breaks work.
I get home and check, and the axle is laying inside the passengerside wheel hub. Axle grease has dripped on ground, and 2 ball bearings are laying on the ground.

Sounds like a broken outer cv joint. Definitely not a common problem. Chrysler joints are usually very easy to replace, but due to the cost, I'd recommend looking into a remanufactured half shaft from a local parts store. The cost has come down a real lot and will usually be lower than the cost of just the outer joint.
