With wiper switch in OFF, when starting car, wipers run for about one minute. I have not replaced any relays or switches yet. The intermittent, slow, fast, and washer work fine, as do the turn signals and high-beams on the same multi-function switch.

Also, the washer button only makes the washer fluid squirt, but does not turn the wipers on, if that is the way it is supposed to work.

CONTINUING DIALOG:

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. UNFORTUNATELY, IN THE INTERIM BETWEEN ASKING THE QUESTION AND GETTING A REPLY, I PULLED THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH AND TRIED TO IDENTIFY THE CONTACT FUNCTIONS WITH A MULTIMETER. I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH ON WITH THE SWITCH DISCONNECTED AND IT DID THE SAME THING. OBVIOUSLY THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
1) WHERE IS THE WIPER TIMER FOR THE SQUIRTER?
2) CAN EITHER THE "WIPER ON" OR THE WASHER PUMP BE A CULPRIT?
3) IF THE LATTER, WHERE IS IT?

The washer button should make the washer fluid squirt, and turn the wipers on, that is the way it is supposed to work.you have a shorted combination switch.
change the switch to take care of the problem.

Here is how to remove it.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable from the battery.

2. In order to disarm the air bag system, allow the system capacitor to discharge for at least 2 minutes, before performing any removal procedures.

3. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from behind the combination switch.

5. Remove the mounting screws securing the combination switch to the steering column adapter collar.

6. Remove the combination switch from the vehicle.
