2001 Chrysler Sebring Engine Shuts off

I just perchase a use car and found each time I place the car in reverse or if I tap the gas padel the engine would shut off but the radio and lights are still on. I tried fuel injection 2 times same deal. I was told maybe the car needs a tuneup, but I would like to know what is causing this issue and I would like to know if I do spend $300-$400 for a tuneup will it fix the problem, Thanks!

If it only happens in reverse, I doubt that a tune up is going to chance it. Has the check engine light ever come on? Have you checked the fuel pump pressure and for vacuum leaks?
