Air Conditioning problem
1999 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 185000 miles

I just purchaed this 99 sebring 2.5 L Purchased from Lady she had all the documentation that had ever been done on the car since she bought it brand new. She said the airconditioner stopped working last summer and the compressor had locked up and the dealer wanted a fortune to fix it. So instead she bought a brand new car. Anyway the car has been well taken care of 10yr of documentation from every oil change to windsheild wiper blades. I have a new compressor for it (used) w/ warranty. I know can I change that out myself But how about the rest of the deal to get it working? In your experience if the compressor is locked up is that generaly the only part that should need to be replaced other than the belt? Also my next question is any idea on the cost of getting it repaired if I change the compressor my self and for instance that is all that was wrong. I'm not sure what it is that has to be done I know they have to recharge it but is there anything else? I have slightly above average mechanical skills Could I do the whole job myself? If so How? (HA HA) not to much to ask anything would be greatly appreciated Thanks

There's a leak somewhere that caused the compressor to locked-up. You need to find it before you replace the compressor and possibly the belt

My advise is bring it in to the AC pros, there's other things that are involved that DIY cannot do-special equipment for instance-

Good Luck
