Engine Performance problem
2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 cyl Automatic 107000 miles

I have a 2002 Pt Cruiser LE a few weeks ago my car started overheating while idling sometimes. We replaced relays, sensors, radiator, cap and still over heats when Idle. Also timing belt broke while driving. Changed timing belt now car idles rough and cuts off. We also replaced idle switch. What can cause this? No one seems to know what is going on with it.

HELLO makaylahsmommy

Check for excessive exhaust backpressure -

A clogged catalytic converter will restrict the flow of exhaust and cause heat to back up in the engine. Other causes include a crushed exhaust pipe or a collapsed double wall pipe. Check intake vacuum at idle. If intake vacuum reads low and continues to drop, inspect the exhaust system.
Most original equipment converters are designed for a service life of well beyond 100,000 miles.
