Replaced the timing belt on my 05 PT Cruiser. I was sure I had all the timing marks lined up after installing and applying the tension on the belt. Car now runs rough at idle and when giving it throttle, will start to quit when hitting 3500 rpm.
Read something about performing a camshaft/crankshaft sync after doing this. Could this be the issue? Or do I need to tear down again and verify timing marks?
If the camshaft/crankshaft have to be synced, how do I go about that?

Put the engine no.1 piston on its compression stroke/TDC and then align the camshaft and crankshaft markings
