2 weeks ago I broke the laser cut key in half accidentally. I put the broken half of key into the ignition cylinder then used the key fob containing other half of key and gently inserted the key all the way in. Fortunately, the cylinder turned and started the car w/o any problems. Have been driving it that way for about a week now. Today I tried to start the car and cylinder will not turn. Iv'e tried shaking the steering wheel, jiggling the key around, and tried to turn the cylinder while doing both. The cylinder will not turn anymore. I tried to get a locksmith to remove the broken part of the key that is in the ignition but he was unsuccessful. I will buy the new key from chrysler once I get that key out. They cant issue new key until I give them both parts of the key. Its a one for one exchange item that chrysler requires. How can I remove the ignition cylinder from the dash so I can take it to them and let them remove the key? I cant afford the labor they charge. I am mechanically inclined so if there is a way to remove it without damaging the cylinder or other componets, I will send you 1 million dollars in monopoly money for the answer! Please help, barely getting by in Ft Worth TX, Jerry. Seriously, thanks guys for any suggestions you might have that can save me a little coin.

Jerry:
I wish I had an easy answer for you but there isn't one. To remove the cylender, requires quite a bit of work. What I would suggest is to get a good manual that provides step by step instructions with pictures to help identify parts. THey offer them here under car repair manuals cheaper than parts stores. I do suggest whereever you get one, make sure it contains the needed informtion.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
