1995 Chrysler Concorde engine overheating

This car has an overheating problem, we have installed new radiator. It overheats when idling, must add water. Have checked oil does not have milky look to it, would a new radiator cap help. It has during this past summer, overheated and smelled hot. When we bought the car it was used, have had 3+ years, has always had hot smell when you get out of car when it has been run for a time, also, check engine light is on and it dies a lot when first drivng. Could you please help

Start by having it scanned for the light. This may lead to the cure for the stalling. If it is using water with no visible leakjs it may have a blown head gasket, doesnt have to have water in the oil for that to be a problem. HAve the cooling system chemical tested for exhaust gasses. Does the fan come on when it is idling?

I have the same problem with mine. I have only 55,400 miles on it but it sat for about 4 years. It has a new top radiator hose and new thermostat. The cooling system seems tight. I did notice that the right side radiator fan comes on at regular intervals even when the thermostat is closed. The left fan doesn't come on at all, even when it overheats.
When the car is left in park and the engine idles for about 30 to 45 minutes, the temp gauge will read about 3/4. When I put it in gear it overheats within 1 minute and coolant leaves through the 18 psi cap (through the overflow hose).
Could it be the fan relay? Fan? Some sort of 2nd stage temp sensor?

Engine Cooling problem
1995 Chrysler Concorde 6 cyl motor Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello My Car is overheating. I have change the oil, theromostat, gaskets and filters. Still running hot what could be the reason. A auto shop said from just looking it the raditor seems to be fine. No knocking sound s so I don't think it's the head and if I get a diagnostic should it reveal the problem. When my question is answered I have no problem making adonation but do not want to donate and not get help.

Is this a 3.5 motor? There is a special bleed procedure for that one if it is.

Right, I know how many cylinders, you already said that. I mean the displacement of the engine.

Look under the hood for a white sticker with small print. Among other things that it will state besides the displacement is that it will say the vehicle conforms to 1995 emissions blah, blah blah. But the size will be there.

What is the 8th digit of the vin?

Engine Mechanical problem

I have discovered that the radiator cap was bad so I changed that, I changed the thermostat and applied a new thermostat gasket. I back drained the whole radiator system with water then put in new Antifreeze. I realeased all air out of the system after the thermostat opened up. The eletric fans are coming on after the heat opens the thermostat. Its overheating only after 25 mins of driving. What could be my problem? Could it be a bad water pump? Leaks in a head gasket? The car runs perfectly fine other than its overheating problem.

The engine coolant temp, is mostlikely the culprit, have it checked /changed and you should be good to go.

Engine replacement may not be the best choice, if the replacement has not been completely rebuilt. Unless you know for sure that there is nothing wrong with the replacement engine, then iIt would be just a waste of money, in my opinion. I would figure out what is/are causing the current engine to overheat. Perform a compression and leak down test to check if the cylinder heads and/block are bad.
