HI,

I left my car idling outside on a cold day a few days ago and when I came out the car had shut off. When I tried to start it back up it would crank and crank but would not turn over. This happened a few days before that. The last time it would crank and then turn over only to shut off again but eventually started.

-Engine light was on
-Full battery charge
-Plenty of gas
-No longer cold outside
-3 days later still cranking just the same

I tried locking and unlocking the passenger side door if it was the auto theft thing but it is an old car with no power to the locks anymore and key will not go into drivers' side door for whatever reason. Never has.

Please Help!

I dont know if your sentence was just running together but I didnt really understand what you are saying. Hold next to block crank spark? Not sure what that means. If these are different steps could you please separate them I have not much experience with cars. If you meant

-hold next to block
-try and crank it
-see if it sparks

okay but what block?

And where do I spray the carb cleaner?
Then did you mean to try and start it again?
Then let it run?

Im sorry but that was confusing and I dont know if I should be out there pulling things apart if Im not 100% sure what they are.

Thanks!

Will car start at all? If yes take to Auto Zone or similar have codes read then post. Do you have a friend or relative that knows how to check spark?

O.K. If not comfortable with pulling off plug wires then try to see if fuel is problem. See the air cleaner box, then see the accordian hose attached to it and goes to engine? Remove hose there is a clamp there. Then spray Carburator cleaner into engine throttle. Replace hose try and start. If it fires up for a second or two that tells fuel is problem.
