my check engine light comes on when I have driven about 8 miles. I know my heater, and defroster do not work. A friend looked at my car, and said that I needed to replace the "Drivebelt Idler Pulley.". Will my heater, and defroster work, and will that make my check engine light go off? NEED TO KNOW PLEASE ASAP! Thank you

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to get some trouble codes by cycling the ignition switch. You turn the key just till the dashlites come on, no further, on-off, on-off, on, then the check engine lite starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes.

As far as the heater, does the blower motor work?
