Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy Truck 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

This is a chevy w/t with the 4.3 cpi engine. Cranks but won't run. Fuel pressure showed 15 psi. Replaced fuel pump and filter. New pump shows the same 15 psi. Returned pump and installed a second new pump thinking the first was a dud. Second new pump shows same 15 psi. Pump amp draw is around 4 amps. Is that low? I've checked and cleaned the pump ground. The pump harness looked ok. I'm stumped on what to check next. Surely I haven't got two bad pumps, Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi ggallows, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation.

You fuel pressure is suppose to be 60-66psi for a CPI spider unit-you're leaking pressure-remove the upper plenum and look at the pax side if there's a wash-up the injector is leaking if not the nut kit

Thanks for the reply. Turns out the parts place gave me a pump for a TBI motor, so it was only putting out 15 psi. Got the correct pump and truck is fixed.

Next time you go buy parts get in here and we'll verify the parts for you.

TBI pump produces only 9-13 psi will never work on t
the CPI system its way too low of a pressure
