turned on emergency lights and now they wont turn off. 18 year old in small fender bender, the switch is sounding like it is working but nothing is happening. Having to undo neg side of battery. Sorry cant donate at this time. Single mom 2 teens all the help I can get will be greatly appreciated. Is there anything I can look at or is this something that a mechanic will charge me another arm and a leg for? 189. Oo to change my spark plugs the last time. They see me comming. Thank you. Julie

Sounds like the emergency light switch is broken. Unfortuanatly there is really no quick fix for this. The switch is connected to the whole blinker switch assembley. Sometimes you can wiggle the switch around to turn them off but it sounds like the switch is too badly damaged. In order to fix this the steering columb cover must be removed. After that it's rather simple--just unscrew the old one and put the new one in. If you have patience, a few hours and a torx headed screwdriver set, you can get the part and fix this yourself. If not, I would get the part off of ebay or somewhere cheap like a junk yard and then have a mechanic put it in.
In the mean time, try removing the fuse for the flashers. I am not sure if the turn signals will go out but it's worth a try. Keep me posted
