1987 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 0

I have a new rebuilt motor new 650 holley carb new plugs wires cap I brought #1 piston up timed it dead center on the crank went from rotor to#1 did the firing order rotor dosent want to stay on # 1on the cap turs over well but will not start getting good fire please help

You sure its on the compression not on exhaust stroke? Could be 180deg out

If its on the compression stroke both valves should be closed-open the valve cover to verify
