I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe. 2 wheel drive. I am having a problem with my air conditioning. It comes out only on the bottom. It does not come out from the dash board. Where do I start to look So I can fix this problem?

This could be the electronic swith. Did it fail all at once, or was it over time? Does the switch feel like 'normal' to you (assuming you've had the truck for awhile)?

If it failed over time, or the switch doesn't feel 'normla', pop the dash cover off and remove the switch mech. The cover snaps in. Just unsnap it, start the truck and put the transmission in '1' to move the shifter out of the way. Then remove it.

The mech. Is held on with a couple of screws. Remove the mech and see if there's any obvious melting. Mine didn't have any obvious melting, but because of the way it failed I was pretty sure that was the problem.

I purchased one at the "used parts store" (junk yard) and it worked great.

If the switch feels 'normal', it's probably the damper that's used to redirect the flow. I've not had a problem with this, so I can't direct you on cheching or changing it.
