My engine will not start up?

my 81 has a 350 small block. when i try to start it with the key it is dead? but i can jump the starter and motor will turn over but no spark? but i do get fuel

- well ..if u have fuel which i know it is a carburetor ..u can even spray starting fluid thru it...then ur problem must be timing...either cam timing or ignition timing..hook up a timing gun and see if it flash ...if it flash ..then start chking ur timing chain & valve train or firing order on ur ignition...if it doesn't then start chk ur HEI ...now ...u can find a lot more info on old stuff on internet than us teaching u ..but if not..any mechanic should have no problem fixing it in a hurry.

Just to jump in. I think we need to confirm something mentioned earlier and that is to check the timing. If this is off, you will have all sort of different issues that replacing parts never fixes.

I attached the process. Plus I attached the process on how to check the idle. You have controlled idle on a 1995 Truck with the 350 TBI engine.
