2005 Chevy Silverado 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Have a 2005 Chevy Silverado that idles high and when you cover the throttle body with a shop rag this will make the idle drop back to normal. What might be the problem?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak on the intake side. Try spraying some throttle body cleaner around the intake gaskets with the engine at idle. If the idle changes, you have found your leak.
