I need to know what could cause a motor to tick when you first start it. This dosnt happen all the time. I just changed the oil and put valvoline oil hoping that this would quit. Two weeks after changeing the oil it has started again. If any ideas please let me know.

How long do you hear the ticking? What weight oil did you use?

Let me know.

This issure has been happening now for at least 9 months off and on. I would change oil and use lucas each oil change. I use 5W 30 oil. The ticking would stop ticking normaly at least 2000 miles before it would start it again. Now it is happening a whole lot quicker.

Okay, I'm going to ask questions that may not seem relevant, but they are.

Are the majority of your trips short?

Do you live in a cold climate?

What brand oil filter do you use?

Does the ticking go away after the truck warms up or does it tick the entire time you use it?

What brand oil filter do you use?

If you don't use the additive, does the problem happen sooner?

Let me know.
