2000 Silverado 4X4 with 5.3L engine won't idle

Hello,

I have a 2000 Silverado with the 5.3 and an automatic transmission. The truck has 150K miles on it and ran fine this morning. When I tried starting it today to leave the office it would start just fine, but wouldn't even attempt to idle. There are no engine codes flashing. What are some things I should check first?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any scent of raw fuel?

These were common for fuel pressure regulator leaks.

I think I remember a faint smell of gas. How hard are these to change?

You can do it, but try to narrow doen the fume location before we get into replacing it. IT is located under the top plastic sheild of the engine.
So when you get the hard start, pop the hood and see if that is where you smell it.
