I need to replace the multifunction switch(wiper, turn, etc) but I can not get the air bag off. I have the shop manual, but it says to just pull it off. I am pretty strong but I cant do that. Any secrets?

The airbag module has a few screws holding it from underside of steering wheel. Remove those screws and then pull out the module just enough to reach and disconnect the wiring. Then you will need to remove a clip and the horn contact from the module as well before it will be ready to remove completely. You will also need a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel which is required in replacing the signal switch.
