I agree with HMAC300. The EGR will not cause a misfire.

Sorry to hijack the post but my 2000 blazer with the 4.3 is getting horrible mileage, between 8 & 10 mpg no matter if in town or on the highway. I changed the air filter, plugs and wires and little to no change. I don't know the history of it so no idea what had been done. I do know the 4wd doesn't work and it is missing the vaccum line that goes to the actuator, but haven't had time to dig farther on that yet. I have read the EGR valve can get plugged and hurt the mileage and that it can be cleaned rather than replaced. Is that true? Or am I better off just replacing it? What else could be causing my poor mileage? I hate sticking a lot of money into it but it's in great shape so may have to bite the bullet.

Hey LITTLEE_DOMN8R,

Is the engine running okay? If so the the EGR valve is okay. I would look more toward the injector regulator leaking internally which is inside the intake manifold.

Hello,

The EGR valve is located at the rear of the engine on the 4 cylinder and at the front of the engine for the 6 cylinder.
