2000 Chevy S-10 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 29,000 miles

My S10 runs great and has been serviced on a regular basis. My next oil change is supposed to be at 34, 000 miles and right now I am at 29,000. The service engine light is on, not blinking, and I can't figure out why. I've checked for loose gas tank cap and looked for loose wires. I hate like hell to go to the Chevy dealer to find out nothings wrong. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Well first of all avoid the dealer at all costs(rip off artists) (just my opinion though). And simply take it to autozone or your local parts place for a free scan. Yes I said free. Dealer would charge you a 125.00. And get the codes and if you don't understand them then respond with the trouble codes that they find. Tell them to check freeze frame data also. Look foward to hearing from you
