Engine Mechanical problem
1970 Chevy Nova 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Is it possible to remove the engine without removing the transmission? And then installing the engine and connecting it to the transmission that is still in place?

The manuals say to pull them as one unit. I'd like to pull the engine by itself.

If this can be done, are there any special issues/problems I need to be aware of?

Yes you can pull the engine with out the transmisson. You have to make sure that you prop the trans up so it won't fall when you remove the engine. Also you must unbolt the converter then shove it backwards so as to not break the pump gears in the transmission. Also pull the radiator to give you room and not damage it during removal and installation of the engine.
