I have a 1998 Monte Carlo z34 with a 3.8L 3800 engine. My air conditioner compressor has leaked somthing oily. I checked under the hood after doing some research, and I found that the compressor attached to the drive belt is leaking oil (or what appears to be), and now the air conditioning from vents is warm (when it is on cold setting). Is it just refrigerant or somehing else?

Is the oily substance around the clutch area(between where the belt is attached and the actual compressor), if that is the case then the front seal has failed and you will have to change the compressor. If it is oily where the hose assemblies attach then you can change the o-ring out. Once you have replaced the o-rings or compressor, take your car to a shop to have the refrigerant evacuated since it is illegal to discharge refrigerant into the atmosphere.
