I live in Chicago and when I tunr the car heat on it blows cold air. When I drive on the freeway, after a few minutes it will eventually warm up, but driving on the streets, it doesn't seem to warm up.

Hi, thanks for the donation. Does the engine reach normal operating temp? Do you use a block heater? If you can feel of the heater hoses, do they get hot? Maybe the heater core needs to be flushed.

The engine is reaching normal temp. It happened again yesterday. As soon as I drove no more than 10 minutes at 55 or over it started blowing hot air. As soon as I was off the highway, it started blowing cold air.

Sorry for the late come-back, I've been having e-mail issues. I didn't find your post till this morning. I'd have to check coolant flow through the heater core.

Friday evening I was driving and the engine temp
reached 260 degrees. It ended up being that I was leaking antifreeeze from the intake manifold gasket. It is now repaired, and I have heat again.
