I'm also havin kinda the same problem.I have a 68 chevelle malibu with new 350 small block and a new 4 barrel edelbrock 600 carburator. It starts fine idles a lil rough and since I put on the new carb its been "pinging", a very noticable smell of gas and uses an extreme amount of gas. Im thinking it needs to be more accuratley timed to stop the pinging and I need to adjust the floats and get new metering rods and jets for the carb. Hopefully that will help in getting my mileage back to where it should be and get rid of the smell. Am I correct and if so how would I go about doing those things?
