I have a 2004 malibu max with about 53,000 on it. I had new brakes put on in March and they told me that the lower control arm need to be replaced because the bearing was going. Since it is under warranty I took it to the dealer they told me there was no problem I just had a oil change 3 days ago,
I just noticed a thick coating of grease on both front wheel wells, don't know when it actually started it caught my attention today and yesterday and today I have heard a clunking noise on the drivers side of the car but it will go away. Everything seems to be driving fine otherwise. Not sure where to start.

The only thing that comes to mind is grease from the halfshaft joints. Maybe torn C/V boots. That would also exsplain the clunking noise. Does it make the noise while you are making turns or just driving straight?
