When having tires replace, the mechanic showed me that the right lower control arm needed replacement. I agree however, the price to replace included the cost of a front end alignment. My mechanic has told me that a front end alignment after replacing this part is NOT necessary.
Is it necessary to have a front end alignment after replacing the lower control arm, passenger side?

YES, it is necessary to have an alignment after replacing the lower control arm.
Let's face it, no two control arms are exactly alike (neither are the lower ball joint, which will be replaced as well).
So having the alignment will ensure that your tires are straight as you drive down the highway.
If you elect not to have the alignment, there is possibility of having your tires wear out sooner - this would void any tire warranty that you may have.
