Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 20000+ miles

My lumina is driving me to drink! For the past 6 mo. Its faled to start try aprox 1 hr later starts up and runs like new. It does this intermitenly never know when rain shine whatever. My wife just went to use it would not go I took her to work came back started up run fine. Its hard to fix something that works then doesent. Need help! Glen

When the problem occurs, do some basic testing, if you haven't already. Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If that checks ok, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage if you don't have one. An intermittent rpm signal can drive you crazy. I wouldn't replace anything without trying to do some testing.
