ignition switch?

my camaro did the same thing, i had a 91 with a 3.1 , i would turn the key may be 10 times all i would gett is a click and click, and then one good time it started, this would happen every time. i put a new starter on, still did it, i turned the problem over to my dad, he found out there was a problem with the factory security system, the ignition wire that goes to the starter takes a little trip through, the security system, that was the problem, my dad by-passed it directly to the starter. problem solved.
