Engine Performance problem
2004 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I was told my head gasket has a slight leak on the engine. It runs in the hot if i sit to long but as i start driving it goes back to normal. my heater and front window defogger works sometimes. it might blow out a little heat then blow cold air. does my heater has anything to do with a head gasket by not running properly. Hello,

Since being told about the Head Gasket Leak have you checked the coolant level? If not it is most likely low which is what is causing the intermitant heat and cold. For a temparary fix you can add some Coolant System Leak Seal that you can just add to the Radiator.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
