what can cause the check engine light to stay on. Code p0171 (to lean). I changed the fuel filter, and the oxygen sensor, and check the vacuum lines for leaks (none). Fuel pump is okay. What else can be done? Where is the egr located? How to clean it or replace it?

You need to check the fuel pressure and double check for vacuum leaks.

Yes fuel pressure, you may just need a regulator. Here is a video to show you how to do it if you don't know how:

also one more thing, pressure test your gas cap too, that will make your check engine light come on and cause a lean code. Ahaaaa

Try replacing your gas cap. Mine was cracked and made the check engine light come on. A new one was $12 and it's fine now.
Good luck!
