My 2002 Chevy Express has a hard time starting. The only way I can get it to start is to floor the gas pedal while cranking. Once it starts it runs fine, except the idle seems slightly higher. The check engine light came on and the DTC that came up on my autotap was P0101 MAF System Performance. Any ideas?

Hello,

Go by your local parts store and get a can of Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. Follow directions on can.

If cleaning has no effect disconnect the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor, and start vehicle. If vehicle does not start reconnect MAF.

Then try turning key to On Position (Do Not Start) then off then back to on position. Do this about 3 - 4 times then the next time start vehicle.

Post results.

I tried cleaning the MAF sensor and tried the key on and off and it still will not start unless I floor the gas pedal while cranking.
