WHEN I START THE CAR THE RADIATOR FAN IS RUNNING THE HEATER CONTROLS ARE IN THE OFF POSTION. THE CAR WILL IDLE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES THEN SHUT OFF THE NEED SERVICE SOON ALSO COMES ON. THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART UNLESS I LEAVE IT SIT A LONG WHILE. THIS CAR IS NOT DRIVEN DAILY ONLY ABOUT ONCE A MONTH IN SUMMER AND IN STORAGE IN THE WINTER.

Usually, when your engine turns over but doesn't start, it's either spark or fuel related. Because your fans are coming on while your motor is cold, it sounds as if you have a sensor malfunction. (Sending your computer erroneous data) But it's never a good idea to start replacing parts, hoping to hit the jack pot.

You'll need to interrogate the computer and see what codes are set. That's the fastest and easiest way to get a good direction on where to start looking.

If you don't already have a service manual for your vehicle, I suggest you purchase an "Alldata" subscription from AutoZone or their web-site. $25.00

This will give you complete and detailed instructions on how to access your computers codes, as well as troubleshooting and repair procedures.
