Can unplugging the battery reset the computer? I need to replace the PCM

Normally disconnecting the battery will not reset the PCM but it will cause the memory to be wiped and if that happens it will clear any codes.

However, this is not the best way to do this because it will cause the monitors to erase as well and if you have an inspection that needs to be completed for emission purposes then it will not pass. The best way to do this is to clear the codes with a scan tool.
