Hello! I am currently looking into buying a used car. I found a Chevy Cavalier Convertible that ios a 97' with 108,000 miles on it. The car itself is in really good condition and everything seems to be fine under the hood. It has a couple scratches and dents, but nothing major. The guy wants 2500 dollars for it. I was wondering if there are any major costly problems that I might run into after buying it that are common becuase of the high mileage. Also, is it worth the price that he wants? I just want this car for about a year or so to get me through school. I don't drive that far, really just around my neighborhood maybr the furthest 40 or so miles if that. I am just nervous becuase of the mileage, and wanted to know if chevy's were reliable with such a high mileage? I wouls greatly appreciate your input on the situation. Thank you SO SO MUCH!

Couple thoughts.

Take it into your regular shop to have them look it over. There will be repairs. There will always be repairs, budget 10 to 15 cents a mile for what you drive and you'll have money to fix it when need be.

Check www. Kbb. Com for used car values under private seller.

Open and close the roof a few times, check the varous controls to make sure things work such as A/C

The had a computer problem for moisture getting into it in the areas where salt is used on roadways. Have seen some headgasket issues.

I wouldn't let 108,000 miles bother me.
