I was driving my cavalier and I heard a popping noise and then a grinding noise. Now it won't start and there is water in the oil.

This is not good.
Drain oil into pan, look for metal shavings, if there, you most likely spun a main bearing.
Refill with oil andrun a compression test, next a cooling system pressure test (only if compression is OK).
