Engine Performance problem
1991 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 106K miles

My 1991 Cavalier had been starting kind of rough, Then it just won't start at all. When you turn the key the lights come on but the car does not turn over at all. It doesn't make any noise when you turn the key. I tried jumping it and kick starting the starter. Any ideas?

Does starter turn with direct 12v applied to it?

If not the starter is bad if it does, I would check for a bad starter solenoid/relay or bad ground.

If its not that I would probably suspect a bad ignition switch, assuming all the battery connectors are clean and battery is good.
