1994 Chevy Caprice alternator keeps going out

i have an 94 capice v8 4.3 an the alternator keeps going out I have been thry 5 in the last three mo. It will last any where from me cranking one time an it works an the next time its not charging or working for a few days I have replaced pigtail lead from bat to starter bat post wire from bat post to alternator nothin is working it is still shorting out please help

p.S this prb all started when I hit puddle of water an car cut off

I have run into a series of bad alternaters that will usually stem from the same manufacturer. What brand are you using? Try to see iF you can get USA brand, napa supreme brand, or a delco.

Remans can have a particular problem with a particular alternater. I'm not sure if it is the same person rebuilding them in that batch that is making a mistake or faulty rebuild parts.

Make sure the battery is fully charged before you get going with another one.
