My 1995 Camaro Z-28 5.7L. Convertable's ignition
was sticking and getting harder and harder to turn the key, one day it was especially giving me trouble
I gave to much force and ignition turned but not correctly and broke, car has anti-theft system with
key's, do I need to buy an ignition lock? If so does it come with matching new security key, and will it
work with my anti-theft system or does it have to be reprogrammed somehow? Would appreciate some
advice.

Do me a favor, look on your key, towards the rubber front of the key is there a little circle on the actual key that is small and made of rubber? If so then you have pass key, which means buy a new lock cylinder from the dealer, and get a key made from the dealer.

If your ignition key has the small rubber pellet with metal in the center, it is possible to buy the ignition lock cylinder from your local parts store, however the key that will come packaged with the cylinder has to be taken to a local locksmith with your original key, so they can make a key that will work for you. This will be much cheaper than going to the dealer. The key that comes with the lock cylinder will allow you to unlock the ignition, but you won't be able to start the car. The 'little pellet' in the original key is read by the car's computer to deactivate the security system and allow the car to start.
