Hi, are you fuel injected or carbed engine? If your computer controlled, you may be able to check for codes.

Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. You can pull a plug boot, stick known good plug in the boot, ground metal part of plug to metal part of engine, cranking, watch for spark. If you have spark everywhere, check fuel. How long since a tune-up?

Its carb. I have had simuler problem in past with the distributer cap and roter. Just baught the engine straight from a crate. Its at a shop right now. Getting ready to be fixed. But it just blows my mind because I have way too much money into this car for it not to be running. I guess its poss. To be the plug wires not sure how old they are. They are from the previous owner. Is that the most likely sanario?

I'd have to do some testing, it is fairly easy to check for spark at the plugs. If you could do a little testing, it would help. Find out what your missing? Fuel--spark-- whatever.
