This happens occasionally not always.
My transmission does not shift smoothly but will shift hard. The service engine light comes on and this will make it fail emmisions. I had the local auto store reset the fault code and I was able to drive the 100 miles before I had the emissions tested so it did pass the emissions. I would like to sove the problem myself so that I can learn more about it and save the money. I do not have the fault code but I could have it reset again and get it.
Thanks for the help!

I need to know the code to help you identify what the problem was. However, if they reset the computer, the code is erased. Is it listed on the repair bill?

PO1870 - Component slipping

Generally this code is set when TCC is commanded on and either it doesn't happen or the converter clutch does not hold. It will result in high line and very harsh shifts. Generally if you have a no lockup situation and do not set this code the issue is tuning related.

I hate to say it, but you will need to see a trans mechanic. It could be the converter. Does the overdrive still work properly?
